No, No, No! Social media is about giving and not taking, especially right away.  Some users attempt to couch selling by acting like they’re giving, “Thrilled” about their jobs “what they can bring to clients” and how they would “love to see what they can offer my company. It’s not clever at all.
Nothing bothers some users faster than misplaced pitches from brand new connections.  Actually you would be surprised how few people attempt to sell as the first act of friendship. Recently a well known LinkedIn coach’s first communication to me, after I accepted her connection request, was to self promote.  I responded by writing back that I was surprised a professional  LinkedIn coach would do so as the first interaction. In my personal case, I’ll immediately unfriend a new connection who tries to sell me things in social. It’s a pet peeve.  Don’t hold your hand out in friendship saying, “Try my product.”
