One of the great pleasures of my job is traveling around the world to blog search marketing seminars and conferences. As August wanes the American SEM conference season is really heating up. Still on AIMCLEAR‘s docket for 2007 are SES San Jose (August 20 – 23), SMX Social Media NYC, SMX Local & Mobile Denver, SMX Travel Orlando, and PubCon in Las Vegas.
This Year’s SES San Jose is Special.
SES San Jose this year is bound to be replete with emotion and nostalgia. Aside from the usual jam packed SES seminars exploring the latest social media, paid marketing, organic optimization, and mobile trends/tactics, it’s the final SES event Co-Organized and Co-Hosted by world-renowned search authorities Chris Sherman and Danny Sullivan. As most of you know they’ve both moved on to other endeavors including Search Engine Land, Search Marketing Now, and Sphinn. These are two gracious guys who take time to make attendees feel welcome and obviously take great pleasure from the global SES franchise they built and no longer own.
While SES (Search Engine Strategies NYC) is known as THE conference for SEM agencies, SES SJ is one of the most important annual high-tech and Internet company events, to a great extent because San Jose is situated in the very heart of Silicon Valley “home to the largest concentration of successful Internet and high-tech companies in the word” (not to mention close proximity to Napa and Sonoma wine country 🙂 ).
The Tuesday keynote presentation will feature Ask.com CEO Jim Lanzone. He’ll talk about the launch of Ask.com’s new Ask3D interface and challenges they face luring searchers away from Google and Yahoo. The Wednesday keynote speaker is Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Search Products & User Experience at Google. We’ll look forward to hearing the latest stats and anecdotes regarding “Personalized” and “Universal” search.
