Welcome back, jet-setters, to part eight of our Facebook English Speaking Demographic Series. We kicked off this series with a study of the 60 countries with the largest FB userbase (that also claim English as an official language) in Population Graph: Where Are Facebook English Speaking Users?.
After trekking through social segments from English Speaking users in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and India, last week we ended up in the Philippines (where they really like McDonalds)– Australia should be up next, but we’ve already dissected their social network butterflies in Facebook AUS & NZ: Who’s Going On Down Under?. So now we’re skipping back over from the Pacific Ocean to the Rainbow Nation: South Africa.
As of June 16th, 2010, about 2,779,560 English speaking South Africans were members of the Facebook community. Let’s see how they self-identify, and how much their vernacular impacts the volume of social segments…
